A Quote

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask oursleves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our prescence automatically liberates others.

OOOH... Yes, I have been feeling this lately. Especially resonate for me is this part: "And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others people permission to do the same." The artists that I appreciate most these days are the ones who I feel have given me permission to heed whatever crazy vision God has given me (Sufjan Stevens comes to mind and now, more recently, the Danielson family).

Thanks for sharing this quote, Eucharisto (and for blogging again)! Now pray that I heed the wisdom presented here and allow God to make me fully alive (this requires obedience: something I have been struggling with of late).

I'm off to write!

AGH!

I'm going to Masterworks this year, and I am totally excited, but I don't know anyone else who is going! Be angry at Nathan for me, OK?
